Phoebe’s Journey with Emily’s Star: A Lifeline for Our Family
Our Story
My daughter, Phoebe Kerry, has Bardet-Biedl syndrome and is on the autism spectrum. Being part of the Emily’s Star family has truly made a difference to our lives. The staff are incredibly friendly, approachable, and always willing to help out whenever we need it.
Support on Day Trips
We’ve received invaluable support from Emily’s Star, especially on day trips. As I suffer from arthritis and have difficulty pushing Phoebe’s wheelchair for any distance or participating in the physical activities she enjoys, having the staff there to assist us has been a huge relief. Their support on these outings has made such a positive impact on both Phoebe and me.
Fantastic Parties and Events
The parties that Emily’s Star organises regularly are fantastic for the families. They give the kids a chance to interact, have fun, and bond with other children, while also providing us parents with the opportunity to meet up, share experiences, and offer support to one another.
Memorable Day Trips
One-on-one help on day trips to places like Thomley Hall, Gullivers Land, and Whipsnade Zoo have been particular highlights for us. Without their support, I likely wouldn’t have been able to manage the physical demands of these trips. These experiences have meant so much to Phoebe and our family.
Heartfelt Gratitude
We are extremely grateful for everything Katie and the Emily’s Star staff do for us. Their continued support has made our lives so much easier, and we feel truly fortunate to be part of this incredible community.
