Finn Griggs’ Journey with Emily’s Star
Finn’s Early Arrival
Finn Griggs was born in September 2023 at just 30+5 weeks gestation. His early arrival was unexpected, and we were completely unprepared when we went to be checked at ADAU. We had nothing with us, which made those first moments even more overwhelming.
The Comfort of an Emily’s Star Box
Receiving an Emily’s Star box was incredibly comforting and thoughtful. It provided us with essential items that we didn’t have, including beautiful baby grows and vests for Finn. Everything in the box was so carefully chosen, but our absolute favourite was the little blanket—it meant so much to us.
Staying Connected with vCreate
A week after Finn’s birth, both my partner Hayden and I tested positive for COVID-19, meaning we couldn’t visit Finn in the hospital. This was heartbreaking, but vCreate became a lifeline for us. The videos we received allowed us to feel as close to Finn as possible. We always looked forward to receiving them in the mornings and evenings, as it gave us a glimpse of how he was doing, even when we couldn’t be with him in person.
Thoughtful Support for Parents
Emily’s Star doesn’t just think about the babies—they also look after the parents. We loved the snack station and were so grateful for the generous donations the ward received. It meant a lot to know that while we focused on Finn, there was also support for us as parents.
Heartfelt Gratitude
We are incredibly grateful for everything Emily’s Star does to support families with premature babies. Back in September 2023, Hayden spoke to someone about how much the Emily’s Star box meant to us, and we were so touched to see a post shared about him.
You guys rock with all that you do! xxxx
