Hospital Support
Hospital Support
At Emily’s Star, our support for families doesn’t stop with premature babies—we’re proud to provide ongoing, practical help to four key wards at our local hospital, all of which care for babies, children, and young people with a range of health needs.

Caring Beyond the Cot
We understand how overwhelming and emotional hospital stays can be for parents and carers, so we’re here to offer comfort, dignity, and connection through meaningful, everyday support.

Wards we support
Neonatal Unit – Supporting the tiniest and most vulnerable babies from day one.
Children’s Ward – Providing comfort for young patients and their families.
Ward 21B – Focused on transitional and long-term care for children and young adults.
SCBU (Special Care Baby Unit) – Helping families through the early stages of premature care.

Neonatal Boxes
Our Neonatal boxes come in pink & blue. We provide the boxes directly to Milton Keynes University Hospital for babies who stay in the neonatal unit.
We provide the unit with 5 different sizes.
2lb Mirco
3lb
4lb
5lb
5lb+
They are designed to be given to mums shortly after having a baby admitted into the neonatal unit.

Knitters & crocheters battling to help precious miracles
Emily’s Star has provided knitted items in our Emily’s gift neonatal boxes since 2012. All the knitted items are made and donated by our followers.
Since 2012 Gift Boxes and Mini packs have been supplied to our local hospitals and to babies in NNU’s countrywide.
This is a place for our supporters to ask for help and support each other whilst knitting for Emily’s Star. This is also a place for Emily’s Star to make members aware of our current requirements.

Toiletries, Sanitary Products & Underwear
We provide essential personal care items for parents and carers staying on the ward, including:
Toiletries for mums and dads
Sanitary products
Emergency packs including underwear, toothbrushes, and other basics
These small but thoughtful touches mean no one is left without the essentials when they need them most.

Snack Station & Free Food
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we’ve stocked a Snack Station on the ward—offering free snacks, drinks, and comfort food for families during long days and nights.
For parents who can’t leave the ward, having access to food without worry makes a real difference.

Secure Video Messaging
We’ve helped introduce a secure video messaging platform for parents who can’t be at the hospital—whether due to illness, distance, or other responsibilities.
vCreate is a brilliant way for the neonatal team to support parents who have a baby on the unit, and so can’t be with them all the time – through the system they can access video updates that provide so much reassurance.
This allows families to:
✔ Log in securely
✔ Receive daily video updates
✔ Stay connected with their baby or child’s progress
This lifeline of connection has been a source of comfort for many families, especially during COVID and other periods of separation.
